The Slate Corner Console

Description

A corner console for the part of a living room that usually stays empty — the return between the window wall and the doorway. It turns that corner into the companion's position, so the bed and bowls leave the middle of the floor and the walking route past the sofa stays clear. The main bay is the resting chamber: lined and painted on all faces, with a removable long-pile mattress on a sealed, wipe-clean base and shaped timber stops at the front edge that hold the mattress in place and make entry a step rather than a climb. It closes with two slim pocket doors that slide back into the carcase rather than swinging into the room — so the chamber can be left fully open through the day and shut when the room is being cleaned or set for guests, without a door blocking circulation in a corner. Set under the counter and enclosed on three sides, it stays shaded while keeping a full view of the sofa and the window. The curved end return carries the daily service: a stainless bowl recessed flush into the lower shelf beside a second dry-food bowl, both held level inside a wipeable well, with an open shelf above at hand height for wipes, towels, and grooming items. Recessing the bowls stops dishes travelling across the floor, and the curve keeps the corner safe to pass at speed. Beside the chamber, two full-height painted doors enclose deep storage with adjustable shelves for bedding, food, and household items. A solid oak counter runs the full length above as a display surface for photographs, lamps, and objects, and pole-mounted corner shelves continue the composition up the wall for books and plants. Chamber width, internal height, mattress depth, stop position, bowl diameter, and well height are all set from your companion's measurements and posture; the corner angle, return radius, counter height, and shelf layout follow the room.
