Premise
We do not add pet furniture to a finished room. We design the room around the lives already inside it.
Each commission begins with daily routines: where an animal companion rests, watches, climbs, eats, waits and withdraws; how people move through the same space; and what the architecture can absorb without visual clutter.

The Studio
An independent practice for shared living.
HĀM is an independent design practice specialising in room-scale bespoke joinery for shared life. The work sits between ready-made furniture and a full interior renovation—closer to custom joinery in its design rigour, integration and material specification, while remaining focused on the room and functions that need solving.

Working Principles
Architectural Integrity
Every intervention must resolve the room as well as the companion need. It should support circulation, storage and the existing architectural language rather than become another object competing for attention.
Routine Before Object
We begin with how the household actually lives: where companions rest, observe, retreat, feed and move, and how those routines overlap with human use of the room.
Material Precision
Surfaces and components are specified for durability, cleanability, indoor use and visual continuity. Material choices are documented for each commission rather than applied as a universal formula.
Made for One Home
No two briefs share the same room, companion or daily pattern. Dimensions, functions and finishes are developed around the specific home rather than adapted from a fixed catalogue piece.

HĀM means home.
The name comes from the Old English word hām: a dwelling, a place of shelter and belonging. It reflects a simple premise — the home is not organised around one species alone.
