Description
A pale, softly radiused console for a formal reception room, with one bay given over to the companion and a sliding brass grille that decides whether that bay is open or closed. The grille is the working part of the piece. Slid across, it holds the animal in a defined chamber that still admits light, air, and full view of the room — a settled boundary rather than a shut door. Slid back, the bay reads as an open recess the dog can enter and leave at will. Rod spacing is set to your companion's head width so the screen is never something to push through. Inside, the chamber is lined in bleached oak, quieter and matte against the figured sycamore outside, with a removable sueded pad recessed into the base so its edge sits flush and does not shift when the dog turns. The floor of the bay is raised clear of the parquet, which keeps draughts and dust off the sleeping surface. The remaining bays are conventional storage: adjustable shelving behind full-height radiused doors for linen, glassware, and companion supplies, with brushed brass trim on the closing edges and turned brass feet lifting the carcase off the floor. The breccia marble top runs the full length uninterrupted, so lamps, sculpture, and a tray sit on it exactly as they would on any salon console. Nothing on the elevation announces the animal's presence except the grille itself. Chamber width, internal height, pad depth, and rod spacing are set from your companion's measurements and resting posture. Veneer, metal finish, and stone are chosen against the room; the sycamore, brass, and breccia shown are one direction rather than a fixed specification. Suited to reception rooms, formal entry halls, dressing rooms, and panelled interiors where the resting place must sit within the primary decorative scheme.

START MY BRIEF FROM THIS DIRECTION“We'd tried every standard dog bed and cabinet—nothing survived our golden retriever or matched the room. This is the first piece that looks like it was designed for our house. Our guests don't even realise it's a dog bed—they just ask where we got the furniture.”
