Description

A freestanding oval console for the centre of a panelled sitting room, holding two functions at opposite ends of the same lacquered shell: a drinks station where the household gathers, and a resting chamber where the dog can lie inside that gathering rather than outside it. The right end is the resting chamber. A curved screen of antique brass rods follows the oval, hung on a concealed pivot with a flush brass catch — it swings open for access and closes to give the animal a defined, protected territory that still carries full sightlines and unrestricted air. Rod spacing is set to your companion's head width. Inside, a removable ivory suede mattress sits on a raised base, lifted clear of floor draught, with a concealed light in the chamber ceiling for checking on the animal without moving the piece. The left end is open on both faces as the drinks bay: mirrored glass shelves on slim brass rails for glassware, decanters, and a tray, with the oval top clear above for a lamp, stems, and service. Because the piece is fully radiused and finished on every face, it works away from the wall — behind a sofa, dividing a sitting room, or floating in a library — and reads as a lacquered bar console from every approach. The raised oval plinth lifts the whole carcase off the parquet and keeps the sleeping base out of the floor's cold layer. Chamber width, internal height, rod spacing, and mattress depth are set from your companion's measurements and resting posture; bar shelf heights follow your own glassware. The oxblood lacquer, antique brass, and ivory suede shown are one direction rather than a fixed specification. Suited to sitting rooms, libraries, and entertaining rooms where the companion should stay in the room the household actually uses.

“We'd tried every standard dog bed and cabinet—nothing survived our golden retriever or matched the room. This is the first piece that looks like it was designed for our house. Our guests don't even realise it's a dog bed—they just ask where we got the furniture.”
